Six European cities – Sofia, Tampere, Finland, Antwerp, Belgium, Madrid, Spain, Karditsa, Greece, and Brest, France, united in a community of practice to build pathways to employment for migrants, got together for a 3-day virtual study visit to Antwerp (November 24-26, 2020), as part of the CONNECTION project. Led by EUROCITIES, CONNECTION promotes transnational learning on and implementation of integration policies.
The virtual hosts with Antwerp city and regional government, social service providers, integration officers, demonstrated their integration practices: the well-functioning one stop shop, the cultural integration offer and pilot phase of a mobile app helping with translation and case work as a potential digital solution in this policy area.
Migration Work CIC experts facilitated the city-to-city discussions on the applicability of the practices observed, generating ideas and adapting lessons learned.
Sofia is one of the participating cities in this community of practice through SDA, aiming to use the transnational learning to improve integration schemes in its own context.
CONNECTION: CONNEcting Cities Towards Integration action, is was funded by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
